Legal requirements
In the UK we have no legal requirement for vehicles to carry snow chains, but, In Europe where they can experience heavy snowfalls it is a legal requirement to be prepared for such occasions, particularly in alpine regions. So if you plan to visit France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy or any Scandinavian countries, you should be aware that there are certain areas where snow chains must be carried, failure to do so may result in you being refused entry to your resort and in some instances, a fine may be imposed.
